JR KYUSHU HOTEL Blossom Oita

The city of Oita is the capital of Oita Prefecture and is located close to the region’s center, facing Beppu Bay. Centuries ago, it was the seat of the Bungo Province government, and it has prospered as the heart of the prefecture for around 1,300 years. As a result, Oita boasts numerous ancient shrines, temples, and castle ruins. There are also several areas where the traditional townscape has been preserved, making the city the ideal destination for a stroll through history.

JR KYUSHU HOTEL Blossom Oita is an urban limited-service hotel with 190 guest rooms on the 8th to 18th floors of the JR Oita City commercial complex, directly in front of JR Oita Station on the JR Nippo Main Line. The hotel front desk is on the 8th floor.

The interior decor was designed by industrial designer Eiji Mitooka, renowned for his many train designs, including JR Kyushu’s luxury sleeper train Seven Stars in Kyushu and the Kyushu Shinkansen 800 series. The rooms make extensive use of wood, showcasing traditional Japanese woodworking techniques. Custom-made original furniture and sliding paper doors decorated with kumiko latticework add to the ambiance, soothing guests with Japanese elegance and the fragrance of wood, while gently glowing pendant lamps create an atmosphere of warmth.

The 8th-floor restaurant, Niwa-no-Shokutaku Shiki, is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with breakfast served from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and dinner from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m.

For dinner, you can savor traditional multi-course cuisine prepared using seasonal ingredients and accompanied by Oita Prefecture sake and shochu. Breakfast is served buffet-style and features regional specialties such as toriten (chicken tempura) and Oita Ryukyu (mackerel or horse mackerel marinated in a sweet-savory sauce made from soy sauce, sake, mirin, sesame, ginger, and other ingredients), along with a wide selection of delicious dishes and sweets from across Kyushu. On the 1st to 4th floors of the same building as the hotel, you can find both nationwide restaurant chains and locally renowned eateries, offering a variety of convenient places to eat.

CITY SPA Tenku, located on the 19th to 21st floors of the building, offers a rooftop open-air infinity bath with a panoramic view of Oita’s cityscape, as well as a sauna, stone sauna, café-bar, and other relaxation facilities, making it an ideal place for guests to unwind and recover from the fatigue of travel. Please note that some facilities require a fee (see website for details).

JR KYUSHU HOTEL Blossom Oita can be reached by the limousine bus service from Oita Airport, which arrives at Oita Station in roughly 60 minutes. The hotel also offers excellent access to the Oita region’s many attractions. Beppu Station (famous for the Beppu Hot Springs) is about 10 minutes away from Oita Station on the JR Nippo Main Line, while Oita Marine Palace Aquarium Umitamago and Takasakiyama Natural Zoological Garden, where you can observe wild monkeys, are a 25-minute bus ride from Oita Station.
