Hotel Shiki no Yakata Hakone Ashinoko

Hakone’s outer rim mountains and caldera lake were formed by a hydrovolcanic explosion approximately 3,100 years ago. Now a popular sightseeing spot, Hakone attracts many people from all over the world, who come for its internationally renowned hot springs and exceptional views of Mt. Fuji.

Hotel Shiki no Yakata Hakone Ashinoko is located on the slopes of Mt. Futago, one of Hakone’s outer rim mountains, and offers guests stunning views of Lake Ashinoko. The hotel was conceived as an “overnight art museum,” with more than 120 paintings and works of calligraphy by Japanese painter Shokan Goma on display. Guests can enjoy the unmissable experience of relaxing in this space, which also features prized, aromatic Japanese cypress wood, while leisurely admiring the artworks.

Each of the hotel’s 30 guest rooms has a private open-air bath with water drawn from Hakone’s hot springs. Renowned for its therapeutic properties since ancient times, Hakone’s hot spring water is marked by the subtle colors and scents characteristic of natural hot spring water, and feels pleasant and silky-smooth against the skin. The open-air baths are crafted from Japanese cypress. Guests can take in the majestic scenery and leisurely enjoy the waters of Hakone’s hot springs in complete privacy. The hotel suites, which can accommodate up to four guests, have both a ceramic indoor bath and an open-air bath to ensure that even families or groups can relax and bathe without hurry.

Dining is an important part of every enjoyable trip. For dinner, guests can savor creative French cuisine using seasonal ingredients, such as seafood from Sagami Bay and Suruga Bay, along with Mishima vegetables. Wine selected by a sommelier to suit each dish and guests’ preferences makes meals even more special. Please note that wine and other alcoholic beverages are not included in the hotel accommodation fees.

Several times per year, a natural phenomenon known as the “sea of clouds” appears on the surface of Lake Ashinoko, creating a magical scene just in front of the guestrooms. Hakone offers truly unique views of Mt. Fuji, including from sightseeing boats on Lake Ashinoko and from the summit of Mt. Komagatake.

Hotel Shiki no Yakata Hakone Ashinoko is a high-end hotel where guests can enjoy the natural wonders of Hakone.
