Hotel Mori no Kaze Hakone Sengokuhara

The Sengokuhara Pampas Grass Field is a popular sightseeing spot some distance from Gora Station in central Hakone. Opened in December 2022, Hotel Mori no Kaze Hakone Sengokuhara is located near this beautifully shimmering field of grass. The hotel comprises three buildings around a well-manicured garden, with interiors featuring abundant use of Japanese cypress wood, artwork by globally renowned Japanese painter Shokan Goma, and a serene Japanese atmosphere.

There are 44 guest rooms in all. Various room types are available, including reasonably priced guest rooms fitted with a shower, rooms with an indoor bath, and rooms with both an open-air and indoor bath. Several rooms can accommodate up to four guests, making them perfect for families or groups. The hotel also has an English-language website with further details.

Hakone is also famous for its hot springs. The hotel has two large baths which draw water from nearby hot springs available to all guests. The first is a large bath with a tub made of Japanese cypress wood, a material renowned for its relaxing properties. Another is a large bath made from stone with an open-air bathing area. Guests can also relax and enjoy the gentle spring waters of Hakone flowing straight from the hotel’s own spring source into a ceramic bathtub and a delightfully named “silk bath” with microbubbles that rejuvenate the skin.

Dinner and breakfast are included. For dinner, guests can enjoy Japanese cuisine highlighting local seasonal ingredients from Kanagawa Prefecture. The hotel also provides a traditional Japanese breakfast with freshly cooked rice, miso soup, grilled fish and a selection of small side dishes.

Hakone can be reached from Tokyo in roughly two hours. Guests take the Odakyu Highway Bus at the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal straight to the hotel. The closest bus stop, located in front of the hotel, is Daigatake.
Visitors can also take advantage of the hotel’s free pick-up service available from Gora Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway. This service follows a fixed time schedule. Please see the website for details.

Guests staying at Hotel Mori no Kaze Hakone Sengokuhara are sure to enjoy their trip to Hakone.
