Sukiyaki Gyushabu Matsuju

Matsuju, located in the city of Tsu in Mie Prefecture, is a restaurant where diners can enjoy Japan’s signature Matsusaka beef in a variety of dishes, including sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. The restaurant is operated by a local butcher shop with over 60 years of history. It is highly regarded for its carefully selected meats, including Matsusaka beef. All the dishes using wagyu beef from this butcher shop are exquisite.

The restaurant recommends three specialty dishes: the Tokusan Matsusaka Beef Sukiyaki “Kiwami”, which is made from Tokusan Matsusaka Beef (of which only about 200 heads of which are marketed annually), the Matsusaka Beef Shabu Shabu Josen, which has the mellow aroma and beautiful marbling that only Matsusaka beef can have, and the thick-cut Chateaubriand steak.

Matsuju offers a wide selection of sake, wine, shochu, and fruit wine carefully selected from all over Japan, including Mie’s local sake, which was especially popular at the 2016 Ise-Shima Summit.
