The SUIBOKU lofts, which fill a basement level and six floors, are located in the heart of Niseko Hirafu, near other accommodations and restaurants. In Japanese, ”suiboku” refers to paintings that use a wash of black ink. The lofts take their name from the building’s exterior of deep black steel, which, when it contrasts with snow, is strikingly reminiscent of an elegant ink painting on a white canvas.
There are ten lofts in all, ranging from two to five bedrooms, and designed to accommodate various numbers of guests, from couples to friends and families. The property’s interiors, including all the lofts, feature unfinished concrete. All floors have high ceilings, and all the lofts have views of Mt. Yotei. These industrial-style loft spaces are a harmonious blend of old and new, with oak wood floors set against traditional Japanese furniture and household items. No two lofts have the same interior decor, so each provides a stay with a slightly different atmosphere.
Each loft has a private kitchen, so guests can buy ingredients at the local convenience store to prepare meals. Or, if they prefer, since the property is in the heart of the popular sightseeing destination Niseko Hirafu, there is a wide variety of restaurants and bars nearby. Guests staying for longer periods can easily try a different restaurant each day.
Guests at SUIBOKU can receive introductions to nearby restaurants, assistance with purchasing ski lift tickets, and even special discounts for ski and snowboard lessons, which beginners should make sure to apply for when making a reservation. For the 2024 winter season, the company managing SUIBOKU also opened a rental shop on the first floor, so even guests without their own equipment can enjoy skiing right away.
SUIBOKU is only a minute’s walk from the four-person Ace Family Quad Lift of the Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu Ski Resort, which makes it a perfect place to stay for skiing and snowboarding. Niseko itself has a reputation for the world’s best powder snow, making it a top destination for skiers and snowboarders from around the world
