Lemeiesta Hotel’s origins go back to the mid-19th century when the surrounding area was busy with large-scale logging. More than 200 logging workers lived nearby, and the bustling local bathhouse was the predecessor of the current Kamikochi Lemeiesta Hotel.
The name Lemeiesta is an amalgamation of the French words le meilleur (the best), the Spanish word establo (special seating), and the English word “time.” This represents the hotel’s desire to offer guests a blissful time of profound relaxation in an extraordinary location surrounded by the magnificent natural environment of Kamikochi.
Nestled in a serene corner of the Chubu-Sangaku National Park, a short distance from the popular Kappa Bridge, Lemeiesta Hotel provides unparalleled tranquility and relaxation. The new bar lounge, built in 2024, is a great place to enjoy luxury while gazing at the sunset. The hotel provides various services to make guests’ stays as comfortable as possible, including complimentary drinks, snacks, and even rainwear if needed. It is also committed to environmental protection, using renewable energy and bioethanol powered fireplaces.
All 23 guestrooms underwent extensive renovation as the bar lounge was built. Half boast spacious 45-square-meter layouts, and all offer magnificent views of the Azusa River, Mt. Roppyaku, and Mt. Kasumizawa. The open-air baths, the room baths, and the large shared bath are all fed by natural hot spring water direct from the source–one of only two such facilities in Kamikochi.
Lemeiesta Hotel serves authentic French cuisine, French-Japanese cuisine, and other styles of cuisine that provide variety during more extended stays at the hotel. Breakfast is buffet-style with cook-to-order omelets, local specialties, and a variety of dishes made using seasonal ingredients.
Visitors to Kamikochi must travel by public transport, as the area restricts private car usage. However, those looking for a more luxurious experience may wish to use Alpico Taxi, a hotel partner service. The company operates Mercedes Benz and Lexus taxis with television screens, tables, and spacious, comfortable interiors that ensure a first-class travel experience. Their courteous drivers also speak English. Reservations should be made directly with Alpico Taxi.
From the moment visitors embark on their journey to Kamikochi to the moment they return home, Kamikochi Lemeiesta Hotel does all it can to ensure they have the best time in their lives in the magnificent natural environment of the Japanese Alps.
